Meet your coach

Coach Thomas Young

I'm Thomas Young. I came up as an amateur boxer and won championships in the amateur ranks. Since then I've coached boxers who went on to become national amateur champions.

Boxing teaches more than fighting. It's an expression of self through controlled movement, and that's how I coach it. We build from the ground up: your stance and fundamentals, footwork that keeps you balanced, defense that keeps you composed, and sharp punches and counters that come from timing rather than force.

Training, coaching, and mentoring are what I love most. Nothing beats watching someone go from their first stance to moving with confidence, then seeing that confidence carry into school, work, and life outside the gym. I'm not just here to run drills. I'm in your corner.

You don't need to chase a title to train with me. I'll meet you where you are, correct you clearly, and build your skill and conditioning one session at a time.

Questions

Good to know.

What happens in the free assessment?

30 minutes at SIR Boxing. We talk through your goal, check your stance and movement, and do a few rounds on the pads. You'll leave with a plan and a recommendation — no pressure to buy.

I've never boxed. Is this for me?

Yes. Private sessions are built for beginners and for people getting back into exercise. You learn at your own pace with one-on-one attention.

Will I have to spar or get hit?

No. Training is non-contact: technique, pad work, drills, and conditioning.

Where do sessions happen?

At SIR Boxing, 965 Arcade St, Saint Paul, MN 55106. Park behind the gym, on the street, or in the restaurant lot directly across the street. Paid sessions can also happen at your home, a park, or your building's gym within about 15 minutes of SIR Boxing, for $15 extra per visit.

How do packs and the monthly plan work?

Packs are paid up front and booked one session at a time with your code. The 4-pack is valid for 6 weeks and the 8-pack for 10 weeks. The monthly plan covers two sessions a week, is billed monthly until you cancel, and is set up in person after your free assessment.

How do youth sessions work?

For ages 7–17. A parent or guardian books and completes the consent form. At SIR Boxing, parents are welcome to stay but don't have to. For sessions at home, a parent or guardian must be there. Sessions are non-contact.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Use the link in your confirmation email. Changes are free up to 24 hours before your session. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full.
